Field Notes Radio Program
UMass Extension Educator Laurie Sanders hosts a series of radio
segments exploring natural areas, special plants and animals,
and natural happenings in the Connecticut River watershed.
The Ecological Cities Project
The Ecological Cities Project is a quasi-independent program of
research and outreach affiliated with the Department of Geosciences
and the Center for Public Policy and Administration at the University
of Massachusetts Amherst. The program seeks to promote sharing
of knowledge and experience among disciplines, sectors, and urban
regions regarding new approaches to urban greenspace creation
and management.

The Environmental Institute provides a central access point to
the broad range of environmental expertise at the University of

Executive Office of Environmental Affairs
Departments within the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs
are: the Department of Environmental Protection; Metropolitan
District Commission; Department of Food and Agriculture; Department
of Fisheries, Wildlife and Environmental Law Enforcement; and
the Department of Environmental Management. Their areas of interest
include the state of our environment, community preservation,
open space protection, biodiversity, environmental education,
pollution prevention, watershed initiative, and lakes and ponds
strategy.
Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries
The mission of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries
is to manage the Commonwealth's living marine resources and the
harvesting of those resources by the commercial and recreational
fisheries, while maintaining a diverse number of self-sustaining
fish populations at healthy levels of abundance in balance with
the ecosystem.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is a
state agency responsible for protecting human health and the environment
by ensuring clean air and water, safe management and disposal
of solid and hazardous wastes, cleanup of hazardous wastes, and
preservation of wetlands and coastal resources.
Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management
The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management's mission
is to balance the impacts of human activity with the protection
of coastal and marine resources. It works with other state agencies,
federal agencies, local governments, academic institutions, nonprofit
groups, and the general public to promote sound management of
the Massachusetts coast.
Association to Preserve Cape Cod
The mission of the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) is
to promote policies and programs that foster the preservation
of the natural resources of Cape Cod.

The Center for Environmental Literacy at Mt. Holyoke College website
includes links to local environmental organizations; non-governmental

Connecticut River Watershed Council
The Connecticut River Watershed Council is the principal citizen
advocate for conserving and protecting the entire four-state Connecticut
River watershed.
Environmental League of Massachusetts
Established 100 years ago as the Massachusetts Forestry Association,
the Environmental League of Massachusetts is dedicated to protecting
the air, water, and land for the people of the Commonwealth by
voicing citizen's concerns, educating the public, advocating for
strong environmental laws, and ensuring that the laws are implemented
and enforced.

Established in 1896, the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the largest
conservation organization in New England, protects conservation
land, conducts educational programs and advocates for sound environmental
policies.

MACC represents and supports the municipal environmental agencies
in 351 cities and towns of the Commonwealth.
The Trustees of Reservations
The nation's oldest private, statewide conservation and preservation
organization. Since 1891, The Trustees have protected over 46,000
acres in Massachusetts, including 91 public reservations representing
many of the state's most scenic, ecologically rich, and historically
important landscapes.
Tufts Institute of the Environment
Tufts Institute of the Environment (TIE) is devoted to advancing
and disseminating knowledge about the many ways human interactions
affect the environment. TIE focuses its activities on environmental
research, technology, policy development, and education to improve
environmental quality as it relates to human health.
Regional Resources
Center for Environmental Education (CEE) of Antioch New England Institute
The Center for Environmental Education's mission is to create
greener K-12 schools and communities. The two main parts of CEE
are: the CEE Resource Center (providing environmental education
materials) and the CEE programs (working with particular schools,
districts, and communities) to create model community-based environmental
education projects.
Conservation Law Foundation
Based in New England, The Conservation Law Foundation is the largest
regional environmental advocacy organization in the United States.
Earth Share of New England
Established in 1992, Earth Share of New England (formerly the
Environmental Federation of New England) is a coalition of environmental
organizations working to protect and preserve our natural resources
and public health.
Environmental Business Council of New England
Conceived in 1990, the Environmental Business Council of New England
was the first organization in the United States established to
support and foster the development of the environmental industry.

Environment Canada's on-line newsmagazine covers a wide range
of current environmental issues and provides links to more detailed
information on Environment Canada's website, the Green Lane, and

National and International Resources
Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) Clearinghouse for Science,
Mathematics, and Environmental Education
The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national
information system designed to provide users with ready access
to an extensive body of education-related literature. ERIC, established
in 1966, is supported by the U.S. Department of Education, Office
of Educational Research and Improvement, and the National Library
of Education.

The National Wildlife Federation is the nation's largest member-supported conservation group.
The Nature Conservancy
Since 1951, The Nature Conservancy has been working to preserve
the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the
diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters
they need to survive.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
EPA's mission is to protect human health and to safeguard the
