Schools in the district
West Vancouver schools are considered some of the most prestigious schools in Canada. There are many families living in the area who are well-educated. Many of these parents prefer to send their children to private schools.
The school district includes 14 elementary schools and three secondary schools. There are also a few privately-run day schools on Bowen Island. One of these is the Island Pacific School.
These schools offer a full array of courses and activities, including visual arts, athletics, musical and theatrical performances, and international programs. Some of the local schools are members of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. A number of the students at these schools come from different countries. Almost 40 languages are spoken at these schools.
Students are also offered a choice of IB diploma courses. This school is one of the oldest in the city. It is known for its sporting prowess. They have two grass fields and a running track. Sports such as football, rugby union, and soccer are offered.
Other schools include Mulgrave Secondary and Sentinel Secondary. Both schools are part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. In addition, they offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Moreover, Rockridge Secondary is another school that offers a large international student population. Every year, hundreds of students from China, South America, and other countries enroll at this school. During the 2019 school year, a student was suspended from the school because of a threat on Snapchat.
The district also offers a number of sports academies. Their athletic programs have been established for years. For instance, they have a District Honour Choir and a Premier Basketball Academy.
Additionally, they have an Alternate Career and Continuing Education for Secondary Students. As well, they have a Prevention Worker and Youth Workers to assist students with substance abuse concerns.

Fraser Institute’s school rankings website
If you want to see what high schools in your area are doing, check out the Fraser Institute’s school rankings website. It will help you find the best one for your child.
The Fraser Institute ranks schools on academic performance and other metrics, which are based on student test results. They are available for elementary and secondary schools in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario.
There is no denying that the Fraser Institute’s school rankings are useful, but they are not the be all and end all. A holistic approach will give you a bigger picture.
In the end, it is the parents who have the most to gain from such information. They have a right to know how their children are doing. That may include having them attend open houses. Besides, it can be a good idea to get involved in the community of your local school.
Using the Fraser Institute’s system is not an easy task. You have to meet certain requirements and then submit your test results to the organization. Some of these requirements are unique to each province, so the results will differ from province to province.
The Fraser Institute’s ranking system is not without flaws, however. Some critics claim it discriminates against students from disadvantaged backgrounds. And it fails to take into account alternative schools, which may be more effective for some students.
The Fraser Institute is the most reputable organization when it comes to high school rankings, but it is not the only one. For instance, the University of Waterloo, a renowned Canadian research and education institution, had the fifth highest rank in Canada in 2009.
One thing to note is that Fraser Institute’s school rankings are based on average test scores, not on qualitative measures of great education. Therefore, they do not measure the most important metrics, such as parental engagement.
While the Fraser Institute’s system may be the best in the world, its reporting is not as reliable as it could be. As a result, the organization’s rankings are not as useful as they could be.
Welcome to Kindergarten orientation program
Getting your child into kindergarten is a big deal. It’s the first time they’ll be around other kids, and you’ll have to learn how to best nurture their social and emotional well-being. Luckily, the West Vancouver School District has a lot of resources to help you along the way. One of the best options is the Welcome to Kindergarten orientation program, which will help you and your little one get started on the right foot. You can get more information on the program here.
While it’s not the world’s largest, the Welcome to Kindergarten orientation program is a good way to orientate you and your child on what’s expected of them. This includes what to expect when they first walk into their new school. In addition, they’ll receive a colorful bag of goodies to help them along the way. The best part is that the program is free.
The program is organized into four sessions. Each of these four sessions offers a different educational component, but they all have the same core elements. First and foremost, you’ll be greeted by a friendly face and an introductory curriculum. If you haven’t enrolled your child in a program, you’re missing out on a valuable learning experience that will last a lifetime. They’ll also be able to participate in a variety of hands-on activities that will make them feel like a pro.
Aside from the fact that the Welcome to Kindergarten orientation program is free, you’ll be able to meet new classmates, receive a resource bag and learn about the curriculum. All in all, this is the perfect way to get your kids off to a strong start. During the orientation program, you’ll also find out which schools are best for you and your family. From there, you can get the kids into the school of your dreams!
Be sure to check the school calendar for the next WTK orientation session. The next one is scheduled for May.
Transferring your child to a VPS school
If you are planning to move out of the Vancouver Public School boundaries in the future, you may want to consider applying for an out of district choice transfer. This means that you can withdraw your child from their current school and send them to another school that is located outside of the VPS boundaries. You will need to fill out a transfer form and you can fill out this form on your computer, iPad or smartphone. The application will be reviewed by the Vancouver School District and you should hear back about the outcome within 45 days. Once the decision is made, you will be asked to visit the child’s old school to withdraw him or her.
