Located at Park Royal Shopping Centre, West Vancouver Movie Theatre is a great place to enjoy movies. It features eleven screens, a variety of movie-going experiences and a VIP Cinema section.
The VIP Cinema is an adults-only movie experience where guests can kick back and relax in luxury reclining seats with their food and beverage orders delivered right to them.
What to Expect
Located in the Park Royal shopping centre on West Vancouver‘s main street, this theatre is a must see for movie buffs in the area. They have a good selection of the latest blockbusters and are in the business of providing the best possible customer service. They also do a great job of catering to the locals with a decent selection of food and drink options.
There are several new features to be found here including a large screen, the latest in 3D technology and an interactive digital display. They even have a cool looking bar in the foyer where you can order food and drink prior to your showtime.
This is one of the nicest theatres in the city. It’s a beautiful space and you can easily spend an hour just enjoying the ambience. They have an amazing selection of drinks, including a good number of local craft beers on tap. Their bartenders are also top notch and will help you pick out the perfect cocktail for your taste buds.
This is also the best place to view a spectacular fireworks show. They have a big screen, the latest in 3D technology and even have a small stage where you can watch live entertainment.
Food & Beverages
Cineplex has a variety of dining options to choose from at their movie theatres, including classic snacks like popcorn and soda, plus expanded menus with mouth-watering pizza, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. Some locations even have bars and offer beer, wine, margaritas and more!
For those looking for a more upmarket experience, the Park Royal Movie Theatre offers an adults-only VIP section. Guests can order food and beverages from a menu ranging from salads to burgers to artisanal pizzas that are delivered to their seats before the show begins.
This is a great option for a date night or group of friends, but it can also be a good way to relax before the film. The VIP area has a lounge with seating, fireplaces and a few TVs. The light from the servers’ tablets can be a little bright in the middle of the movie, but it is still a pretty cool experience.
Another feature at the Park Royal Movie Theatre is UltraAVX, which adds extra audio and visual effects to movies. The new location, which opened April 3, is on the third floor of Park Royal Shopping Centre’s south side (right above the Brick), and has 11 auditoriums with luxury recliner seating. The theatre also features a host of “enhanced movie-watching experiences” like D-BOX motion seats and an adults-only VIP section.
Guests in the VIP area can enjoy Dolby Atmos sound, an Ultra AVX screen and D-BOX motion seats, along with a fully licensed bar with cocktails, wines and craft beers before the show. The VIP section is in the process of getting its four auditoriums fully licensed, according to Van Lange, but guests can purchase a selection of drinks for consumption in the lounge prior to showtime.
For those who don’t want to miss out on a delicious meal or beverage, the theatre has partnered with SkipTheDishes and Uber Eats to deliver select concession items right to your seat. To order from the list, you can use the mobile app or place your orders online and collect them at Xpress Pick-up.
Special Events
During the summer, there are lots of special events to look forward to at West Vancouver Movie Theatre. From movies to concerts, there’s something for everyone.
The Harmony Arts Festival runs from July 29th to August 7th in West Vancouver every year, and is one of the most popular festivals on the North Shore. The festival is free and consists of concerts, outdoor art displays and a variety of entertainment. It also includes an outdoor movie show on a large screen at John Lawson Park.
Although the movie show didn’t happen in 2021, there is usually a concert here each evening starting at 7:30 pm. It’s a free event that’s usually very well attended and a great way to spend an evening on the waterfront.
While you can watch a movie for free on most weekends, there are many special events that will cost you a small amount of money. These include the VIFF Film Festival, the Oscar Shorts, and the Stanley Park Summer Cinema.
You can also get a discount on admission to these events by being a VIFF+ member from just $39 a year. That’s a great deal because not only do you save on admission prices, but you get to enjoy exclusive benefits like free popcorn and soda at every screening!
The Stanley Park Summer Cinema is an annual series of free outdoor movies that take place at Second Beach in Stanley Park from early July until late August. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen in 2020 and 2021 due to the flu pandemic, but it’s back this year!
In addition to the films at Stanley Park, there are several other movie-themed events in West Van as well. The West Coast Railway Heritage Park in North Vancouver shows drive-in-style movies on a rotating basis each May, June, July, August and September.
There are also many other free movie nights at parks and outdoor venues around the Lower Mainland during the summer. These are a great way to spend a few hours outdoors and have a fun time with friends or family.
The most popular event of them all is the Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver. It’s a free, family-friendly event that attracts thousands of people each year. There’s music, food and art to explore in the evenings and on the weekends.
