Aside from the above mentioned top-of-the-line facilities, WVED also provides a wide range of programs to meet the needs of each individual student. As a Waldorf School, the curriculum is designed to foster creativity and problem-solving. The best way to accomplish this is through a unique approach that draws upon traditional Waldorf teaching methods and contemporary educational research.

One of the highlights of the school is its internationally acclaimed, award-winning arts program. A new, CAD-funded performing arts centre features a large main theatre and a smaller, flexible black box studio theater.

The school also tries its hand at innovative teaching and learning, with a focus on the latest technological advances to improve student engagement. For example, the new computer lab is designed to make science and math easier to understand and apply to real-world problems.

This provides students with the opportunity to explore their interests and gain practical work experience in a wide range of fields, including business, finance, technology, engineering, medicine, marketing and graphic design.

Upon completion of the program, students are awarded a WPGA certificate of achievement. They may also choose to continue their education at UBC or other post-secondary institutions.

A key part of the WPGA experience is the University and Career Counselling Centre (UCCC). This centre offers a variety of workshops and sessions throughout the year, allowing students to explore their course options and prepare for university admission in grade 12. It also helps students make strategic choices about what they want to study, where they want to live, and which clubs or athletics they would like to participate in.

The UCCC has excellent relationships with a number of universities in Canada and the US, and can help students secure placement in programs that are most likely to appeal to them. In Grade 10, we also have an annual fair for students, which gives them the chance to meet with representatives of a large number of universities and colleges.

If your child has been accepted to a university, they will be required to provide official transcripts from their previous schools. Transcripts must be sent directly to the University of British Columbia, and should not be submitted through other channels such as photocopies or faxed copies.
