Neighbourhood Small Grants

The West Vancouver Community Foundation runs a program called Neighborhood Small Grants. This program is a way for people to get funding for community projects in their neighbourhoods. This program supports community projects in West Vancouver and Lions Bay, British Columbia. Projects must be located within the boundaries of their project, and the Foundation will provide match funding.

The program aims to provide small grants to neighborhood groups to implement projects that will improve the quality of life in their area. The money can be used for projects such as native plant walks, gardening workshops, and food share stands. Other initiatives are aimed at reducing social isolation and fostering community pride in local spaces.

The program is administered by local partner organizations with an advisory committee that is representative of the community. The community foundation’s mission is to connect philanthropy to community needs and opportunities, and to foster a caring community. Project leaders are eager to share information about their projects and events.

Neighbourhood Small Grants programs are a great way to help make your neighborhood a better place to live. Community groups can apply for a small grant of up to $500. The funds are designed to help residents take action, improve their neighborhoods, and make their neighbourhoods better and safer. Projects that have been funded in the past have included park cleanups, emergency preparedness meetings, community gardens, enhanced block parties, and more.

Neighbourhood Small Grants are designed to be accessible to all people in a neighbourhood. People living in a neighbourhood define their neighbourhood and lead projects that bring local relationships and resources together. The goal is to empower neighbours and partner organizations to make their community better. Small projects can have a lasting impact.

Cancer research

The West Vancouver Community Foundation (BCCF) is spearheading a campaign to raise funds for cancer research and care. Advancements in technology, collaboration and better understanding of cancer biology are making it easier for scientists to find effective cancer treatments. This is crucial, as cancer is the biggest healthcare crisis in the world, with demand for cancer treatments expected to grow by 60% over the next decade.

The Foundation supports the work of promising scientists in the fields of biomedical research and cancer treatment. Its prestigious cancer research awards encourage the use of innovative and pioneering approaches. These scholarships are given to aspiring researchers with a strong proposal. They must also demonstrate their promise as a major contributor to science.

In recent years, the foundation has supported the development of new treatments for various types of cancer. A new scholarship program, CPRIT Scholars, has been established to help recruit and train the best and brightest minds in the field of cancer research. The CPRIT Oversight Committee has recently approved seven grants totaling nearly $6 million.
