Whether you are going to watch the sunset on West Vancouver, or you are just looking for a nice place to enjoy a picnic, there are some great spots in the area. Here are a few places to try.
Whytecliff Park
Located on the north shore of Vancouver, Whytecliff Park offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and ocean. This park offers plenty of open space for walking, swimming and picnics. The park is also home to a variety of marine animals, including sea lions and birds.
The best time to visit Whytecliff Park is during low tide. The park is not accessible at high tide. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery, you can enjoy swimming or scuba diving. You can also watch a sunset from the park.
Whytecliff Park has several beaches for you to choose from. The most popular is Whyte Cove, which is a calm cove next to Horseshoe Bay. It is a popular area for swimming, scuba diving and watching the sunset. You can reach the beach by hiking to Whyte Islet.
Whytecliff Park has many short trails through the trees. Some of these trails lead to an elevated lookout. From there, you can get a view of Bowen Island, Whyte Cove, and Howe Sound.
Another great location to catch the sun is Crescent Beach. This pier offers a scenic view of the surrounding area and makes for a perfect blanket picnic. Sullivan Point is another great spot. The beach is calmer than White Rock, making it an ideal spot for sunset viewing.
Whytecliff Park also has a short trail leading to an elevated lookout. From here, you can get panoramic views of the city.
Wreck Beach
Whether you are looking for a great beach, great views, or a great sunset, you should check out Wreck Beach in West Vancouver. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Vancouver.
Wreck Beach is a clothing-optional beach that is located on the west coast of the Vancouver Peninsula. It is part of the Pacific Spirit Regional Park. It is a secluded beach that is surrounded by dense forest. There are a few amenities at the beach, including a car park and toilets. It is a popular destination for the public and students.
The best time to visit Wreck Beach is in the summer. You can see the full moon from here. You can also take a dip in the ocean or go swimming. You should be prepared for cold water and a lot of sand.
When visiting Wreck Beach, make sure you wear sunscreen and take plenty of water. You should also be careful of jellyfish.
Another great location for a sunset is at Lighthouse Park. This park is situated along a rocky shoreline and offers excellent views of the city and the ocean. It is a popular place for tourists and locals to watch the sunset.
Third Beach is a more quiet beach that is on the edge of Stanley Park. It is a great spot to see the sunset, but it can be difficult to get to.
Locarno Beach
Amongst the beaches in West Vancouver, Locarno Beach stands out as one of the best spots to watch the sun set. This small, sandy beach is situated just off Northwest Marine Drive between Jericho Park and Spanish Banks.
Locarno Beach has a lot of great amenities. You’ll find six beach volleyball courts, a concession stand, free parking and picnic facilities. You can also enjoy a nice walk, a bike ride or play some bocce. The best part about this spot is that it’s not crowded and is free of noise. The surrounding trees provide an ideal backdrop to a perfect sunset.
Locarno beach is not a very popular beach, but it’s definitely worth a visit. Although it’s not the largest beach in Vancouver, it offers epic views of the North Shore mountains.
It’s also a good option for kids since it has a kids’ pool and playground. It’s not uncommon for Locarno to have a raft or a swimming raft floating in the water. This is a great summer activity to take the kids to.
You can also try out the longest outdoor pool in North America. There’s a nice grassy area that’s perfect for kids. You’ll also find a fun food truck.
Another great thing about Locarno Beach is that it’s not very crowded. Unlike other Vancouver beaches, Locarno is a relatively undeveloped beach. It also has less traffic than other nearby beaches.
Queen Elizabeth Park
Whether you’re a fan of the city or just want to catch the sunset, there are plenty of locations in Vancouver to take in the view. Some of the best are right outside the city’s main attractions, but there are also plenty of lesser known places that offer the same kind of sweeping vistas. These include Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, and Whytecliff.
One of the most popular spots for watching the sunset is at Stanley Park. This 128-acre park has beautiful public artwork, a rose garden, and a sunken quarry garden. There are also some great hiking trails. There is also a ten-kilometre seawall around the park that is a wonderful place to watch the sunset.
Another fun place to watch the sunset is the Point Atkinson Lighthouse, a landmark lighthouse that was built in 1914. You can hike up the 18-metre tall lighthouse in about five or ten minutes. The lighthouse is a good photo op and the views are also stunning.
Another excellent spot for viewing a sunset is the Crab Park in downtown Vancouver. This beautiful park is the perfect backdrop for a sunset photo. You can also catch a glimpse of the awe-inspiring Vancouver skyline from the Burrard Dry Dock Pier.
The Lions Gate Bridge is another of the city’s best vantage points to see the city’s skyline. This pedestrian walkway offers outcrop platforms to give you a great view of the city.
Horseshoe Bay Lookout
Among the many things to do in Vancouver, one of the best is watching the sunset at the Horseshoe Bay Lookout. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, but the views it provides are unrivaled.
The Horseshoe Bay lookout is located on Marine Drive. To get there, you can either take a bus or hire a taxi. It takes about 25 minutes to get there from Downtown Vancouver.
In the last few years, the Horseshoe Bay Lookout has gained social media acclaim, but it’s still a little off the beaten path. Nevertheless, it’s a worthwhile splurge and a great way to see the scenery of West Vancouver.
The horseshoe-shaped platform at Horseshoe Bay Lookout is a great place to view the sunset. The view of Horseshoe Bay is beautiful, and the surrounding mountains are impressive. It’s also a cool place to have a picnic. However, it’s a little on the small side, and there’s no room for a tent or a tarp.
The best time to go to the Horseshoe Bay lookout is during the warmer months. On a clear day, the sun sets behind the mountains, and it’s a sight to behold. In the winter, the views of the sea aren’t as awe inspiring, but the place is cooler.
You can also watch the sunset from a pier at Wreck Beach. It’s located in Vancouver near UBC, and offers a stunning view of the sea. You might even catch a glimpse of some sea lions. Alternatively, you can ride the ferry to Bowen Island or Sunshine Coast.
Crescent Beach
Located on the west coast of South Surrey, Crescent Beach offers great sunset views. You can view the horizon almost anywhere along the long, sandy beach. It’s also a great place to see migrating birds. There are several spots to enjoy a picnic, and there are even roped-off swimming areas at Sullivan Point.
The shoreline is quite rocky at high tide. However, it’s a fun area for new paddlers to practice their skills. You can rent a kayak at the nearby Crescent Beach Paddle Shack and take a guided tour. You can rent rowboats at Lake Crescent Lodge, and there are plenty of places to sit and picnic.
There aren’t a lot of hotels or bed and breakfasts in Crescent Beach. If you want to spend the night, you have to drive into White Rock. But, if you’re interested in whale watching, it’s a quintessential British Columbia experience. There are boats that depart daily from Crescent Beach Marina, and you can rent a sea lion cruise through White Rock Sea Tours & Whale Watch Vancouver.
One of the best places to enjoy a beautiful sunset in Crescent Beach is the pier. There are a variety of rock-strewn boulders and logs to lay on, and there are usually people on the beach. If you’re looking for a more secluded spot, why not try 1001 Steps? This park is at the western end of 15A Avenue, and has a wooden staircase that leads to a cobble beach.
